South Florida's climate band is mild and temperate year-round, which is easier on garage door hardware than a freeze-thaw climate, but it isn't free of wear. Humidity and salt air near the coast still get into unsealed steel over the years, and a door that's been sitting since the 60s or 70s often has rust starting at the bottom panel or the roller brackets before anything looks obviously broken. We won't tell you a door needs replacing just because it's old - a lot of the panel steel from that era is heavier gauge than what's sold now, and if the track and springs are sound, a repair is usually the right call. Where we draw the line is the opener motor and the safety sensors: if those are original, we recommend swapping them, because parts for a 40-plus-year-old opener motor are getting hard to source, and we're not going to keep patching a unit that's one bad capacitor from stranding your car in the garage. That's the honest limit of what we do - we fix what's fixable and say plainly when it isn't.
